The PICNIC (a.k.a. - Monday Mayhem)

Parade, Clowns, Food, Kids Games, Storytelling,
Music, Face Painting and more!

On Monday, May 24 you are invited to partake in a day of fun and food for the whole family. We will begin our day of mayhem with a parade, which will include tunes from the Mossing School of Music as well as some of your favourite Regina mascots. Join us at 11:30 am to begin parading from Elphinstone St & 14th Avenue to the picnic at Les Sherman park. Then spend the afternoon with us taking in some entertainment, playing some games, feasting on some B.B.Q. and enjoying the day. We will have some face painters, some clowns, some kids games and some surprises to add to the day. See you there.

[11:45 am - 12:00pm (Gather at 11:30 am)]
We will be gathering at the corner of 14th Avenue and Elphinstone Street at 11:30 am. Once we are ready to go, we will parade down Elphinstone Street to the picnic site at Les Sherman Park. Everyone is invited to join our parade. Decorate your bike, skateboard, baby strollers, unicycle or yourself. Join the band of clowns, musicians and characters that make a parade fun for all.

  • Open House at the Neil Balkwill Centre and Art Gallery of Regina
    The doors to the Centre and Gallery will be open for the afternoon. There will be showings of;
    - Main gallery: “Mushum...! What IS That?” a multi-media installation by Keith Bird, buffalo hide paintings, ceremonial drums.
    - Hallway gallery: "Halloween Apples" photography by Gary Robins
    - Hallway gallery: "By the Light of the Night" paintings by Lucy Cobb
    - Hallway gallery: "The Roots of My Soul" sculptural Display by Denis Chapados
    - Workshops for all ages: Neil Balkwill Civic Arts Centre invites you to meet local artists, and try a hands-on craft technique. Learn about making jewellery with Melody Armstrong, print-making with Rosie Armistead, textiles with Chandra Larwood.. Join Allan Dotson in the Comic Jam Studio: Come and draw! All work will be bound and published for pick-up at the Saturday Street fair.

    At 2:00 P.M. join Keith Bird for an informal walk and talk in the gallery, discussing his work and the themes of traditional spirituality and how it manifests in contemporary Aboriginal culture.

    Come on over to the games area and join the fun.

  • Queen City Caring Clowns
    We are pleased that the Queen City Caring Clowns will be joining us again this year.

  • Face Painters
    Ken Jenkins Community School Face Painters will be helping with the face painting this year. Get your face painted by one of these talented students, or create your own design.

  • Food
    What is a picnic without food? The B.B.Q. will be fired up for the picnic.

Errol Kinistino, Elmer Crane and John Keepness will keep you entertained. They will be playing some music, telling some stories and sharing their unique talents with us.
Soccer games

Rec Mercado will once again host some soccer games.
Tulip and Treble - MASTERS OF MAYHEM
[1:00 pm - 2:00 pm] Main Stage
Rhonda Donais and Matt Totten are sure to delight with Tulip and Treble up to their antics once again. Masters of Mayhem says it all.
First Nations Art
[1:00 pm - 3:00 pm]
Cliff Dubois and Lloyd Dubois will be showing you how they create their art pieces and you may get a chance to work a piece of your own.
Hazel Dixon - STORYTELLER
[2:00 pm - 3:00 pm] Main Stage
Hazel Dixon is pure delight to listen to as she weaves her magic through storytelling. Hazel is an accomplished First Nations storyteller and we are very happy she will join us this year.
Tyler Lindsay – guitarist
[2:00 pm - 3:00 pm]
Looking for a quiet time to just sit and relax to some great guitar playing. This is your venue.
Tribal Vibes
[3:00 pm - 4:00 pm] Main Stage
You won’t be able to help yourself. The rhythms of this group will have you movin’ and groovin’ in no time at all.
