The Arts Festival Wants You and Your Door

The theme of this year’s Cathedral Village Arts Festival is “Doors to Imagination”. We invite, encourage and cajole everyone who lives in the Cathedral Area to open the doors to their imagination and to think of your front door as a blank canvas. We call it the Doors Project: a public art extravaganza where you participate by unleashing the artist within and creating a work of art using your own front door. It doesn’t have to be permanent but it should last long enough for it to be shared with the rest of the community.

Don’t be shy, let us know about your work of art and we will come photograph it. We may even create a walking tour of neighbourhood art doors or put on a display of the Door photographs. Those plans are still in the embryo stages. Keep your eyes open for more information.

The crucial time for your door to be on display is sometime during the two weeks before and the week of the Cathedral Village Arts Festival (from May 9 to 29). For more information about the Doors Project or to contact us to come photograph your door, phone and leave a message with either Jane Anweiler (522-8692 or Susan Dugas (569-1765) the Doors Project Co-ordinators.

Take a look at the amazing Doors to Imagination that have been opening up throughout our community during the Arts Festival.
