visual arts - Artist Profile
Gary Robins is a commercial photographer and adult educator who has lived in Cathedral for over 30 years. Among
his many community-based projects is an ongoing photo documentary: a series of portraits of Halloween trick-or-treaters,
now spanning three generations of ghouls, goblins, ghosts and outright silliness. Gary has been an artist-in-residence
at the Balkwill Centre, photography instructor at the Saskatchewan Indian Federated College and is currently senior
instructor in the Applied Photography program at SIAST. He is a long-time member of the Art Gallery of Regina, CARFAC
Saskatchewan and the Saskatchewan Professional Photographers Association. In 2009 he was a founder of the Canadian
Conference of Photo-Educators. Gary is often on the road, camera in hand.
